Why was the Web site created?
RatemyCollegeDorm.com was created to give
current students and prospective students
a wealth of information on the dorm rooms
available at the university they are or
will be attending. And let’s face
it; students will tell all!
Are my ratings anonymous?
Your names will not be associated with any
of the ratings. However, if you are abusing
the system, your account will be deleted
immediately. We hope that everyone treats
this as a resource and uses it appropriately.
Ratings:
There are a variety of different categories
and questions we ask in the process of rating
a dorm room. Most are self-explanatory,
but we have provided more details for a
few of them. Please use the questions as
guidelines to answering the information.
1. What students can live there?
This lets students know if your dorm is
specifically for certain types of students.
For example, if the dorm is just for freshman
or just for females.
2. Size- Please rate the
dorm based on how large you think it is
compared to the other dorms on your campus.
3. Cleanliness- let’s
face it; some dorms get cleaned more than
others!
4. Functionality- Are the
jacks for the computer on the ceiling? We
hope not! Dorms should be functional!
5. Facilities/Amenities-
Is there a health center in the dorm? Does
it have a cafeteria? What about a work out
room?
6. Lofted- Lofted means
the beds are up in the air one on each side
most likely. Bunk beds are not considered
lofted.
7. Resident Advisor- Most
schools have an RA or ARA; these people
are in charge of the floor, help keep order,
and answer questions.
8. Items you can or can’t
have- All dorms have restrictions.
Can you have a microwave in the room? What
about candles? Put all this stuff down.
9. Best Party Dorm- Come
to grips; some dorms are better to party
at than others!
